LESSON 3-2 IDENTITY BEFORE INCOME

You do not rise to the level of your goals. You rise to the level of your identity.

This is one of the most important truths in this entire program and one of the most overlooked. We spend so much energy chasing the goal that we never stop to ask: Do I actually believe I am the kind of person who gets to have it?

Because here is what happens when the belief is missing. You hit a certain level and something pulls you back. You make the money and find a way to lose it. You build the relationship and find a reason to leave. You get the opportunity and talk yourself out of it. It is not bad luck. It is identity doing exactly what identity does — keeping you consistent with who you believe yourself to be.

If your self-image is outdated, your results will always be capped.

Your self-image was built over years — shaped by what you were told, what you experienced, what you concluded about yourself when life got hard. And for a long time, it may have been accurate. But you are not who you were. The person reading this lesson is not the same person who first learned to play small. He or she has grown,  survived and has built. The question is whether their identity has kept pace with their growth — or whether he or she is still operating from an old file that was never updated.

Growth requires releasing who you’ve been willing to be — and stepping into who the future demands.

That release is not always comfortable. There is grief in outgrowing a version of yourself, even when that version was holding you back. You may feel like an imposter at first time You may feel like you are pretending.   But that discomfort is not a warning sign — it is a growth sign. It means you are in the space between who you were and who you are becoming. Stay there. Don’t retreat to familiar just because it feels safer.

Identity is the bridge between mindset and results.

You can have the right mindset and still self-sabotage if your identity has not caught up.  <break time=”0.5s” /> You can say all the right affirmations and still shrink if, deep down, you do not believe you are the person those affirmations describe. The work is not just thinking better thoughts — it is becoming someone new. And becoming starts with a decision: I am no longer available to be who I used to be.

Make that decision. Then make it again tomorrow. And the day after

Identity is not built in a moment. It is chosen — repeatedly — until it becomes who you simply are.
